#ThanksgivingThursdays – Stinkeye the Cat

I have a cat called Stinkeye (yes, there is a story behind his name and I will explain in a minute!) and today I am thankful for his cuddly, comforting, trusting ways.

We first met him in June 2010, just as we had decided to try for a baby. We had no idea at that point we would face 2 long years of infertility. Stinkeye has been there for me to cuddle, cry on and mother when I needed it most. I really don’t know how I would have got through it without him.

That Summer we were house sitting for my parents whose garden looks out over fields. We would hear this pitiful meow and would leave food out but it took a good few months to persuade this scrawny timid cat that we could be trusted.

When he first found him he had conjunctivitis in one eye, my husband nicknamed him ‘Stinkeye’ and it stuck. It never fails to raise a smile at the vet!

Now, as he sprawls on our bed in the sunshine I don’t think he even remembers he used to live in a field! Or maybe he does, and that’s why he wants to take every moment to sit on our laps or curl up next to us.

Either way, he found us just at the right time before we even knew we needed him. Now, with a new puppy and baby on the way, Stinkeye is having to share us but he will always play an important part in our family.

  1. I think the world is run by synchronicity. When the time is right the page is turned and new story unfolds.

I have a friend of 13 years, labrador Leo, he’s been my baby, my love, my source of strength, and now he’s dying. I wasn’t so lucky to conceive a child, but I pour my heart into my film project, The CYCLE. I think the lesson here is when we think of others, our own pain subsides.

I would like to invite you to be a contributor, whether on the web http://www.vodarfilms.com, facebook http://www.facebook.com/vodarfilms on twitter @IrinaVodar or here at wordpress http://wp.me/p36jbT-D. Thank you, and God bless the child.
